Nestled in the Magaliesberg, about 120km’s from Johannesburg. I had to escape from the city and have some time to myself.
As always, I managed to unwind by following one of the hiking trails to the grotto. Spent time listening to the falling water and drank some of the cleanest mineral water straight from the stream.
I meandered back looking at some of the strange rock formations, sometimes sitting quietly to observe a duiker to two. Eventually, following the stream, that forms great rock pools for swimming.
My day spent in virtual solitude was perfect.
My next visit will be with friends as six of us are planning to rent a log cabin for a weekend.

This is one of the most tranquil places I’ve ever stayed at, whether camping above the kloofs on an MCSA permit, or staying at the campsite at Mountain Sanctuary. Definitely recommended for a stress-reliever weekend away from Johannesburg
